‘Everything is shown up by being exposed to the light, and whatever is exposed to the light itself becomes light.’ – St. Paul
This quote is a summary of how I have been feeling these last three months. Because I have chosen to start my inner journey and to grow spiritually, I have disciplined myself to meditate on a daily basis. At the moment I do a variety of different meditations: strengthen myself with life-force energies, activating and awakening my chakra points, meditations where I heal certain unconscious and disharmonious parts of myself and especially meditations where I focus on the light in my being. I experienced that working with light, is one of the most powerful tools, to get to know your true self. Because where there is light, there can not be darkness. When you work with light (visualize yourself as a total being of light), the darkness inside of you has no other choice then show its existence and come to the surface. Darkness, the way I used the word here, means the unconscious parts of yourself, like the fears, obsessions, illusions, child-patterns that you are not conscious about yet. So when you work with light, these unconscious parts become visible. You start to become conscious of these darker parts of your being. This can be challenging, confronting and difficult.
So lately, different unconscious parts of my being came to the surface and asked for my attention.
There are two things I learned during this healing process:
- Do not suppress your emotions. Your emotions are real and it is the inner language of your being telling you at the moment what is present and how you really feel.
- Do not identify yourself with your emotions. Do not let yourself be taken away by your emotions. Do not lose yourself in your emotion. This emotion is a part of you, but you are so much greater than this emotion that is just present.
SUPPRESSING YOUR EMOTIONS
So many people around the world suppress their emotions. We do this for different reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that we live in a world that is total mind focussed. We live in our minds instead of in our hearts.
If we look at suicide, in most cases this is when people suppress their feelings completely and are ashamed to talk about it. They start to feel so desperate. They start to lose themselves in their mind and negative thoughts. It is like a negative spiral that takes you more down every time you suppress your real emotions.
Your emotions are your inner guidance system telling you how you really feel. So expressing your emotions is very important. Even talking with a psychologist will not be enough. Talking about it is not enough. You will need to EXPRESS your emotions. Express your anger, express your sadness, express your fears. Take every week the time to be with yourself, and find a way to express your emotions. Be true to yourself. Be true to your emotions.
I found an amazing solution how you can express your emotions very easily without bothering anyone with it. This exercise will give you all the freedom to go to your emotions and to express them freely. To do this exercise, make sure you find a quiet place where you can be alone and express yourself freely. This exercise is a dynamic meditation from Osho.
Soon, I post my own variation of this dynamic meditation on YouTube. So stay tuned.
But for the meantime, you can watch this link. How this dynamic meditation is done:
LOSING YOURSELF IN YOUR EMOTIONS
Emotions like fear, sadness, anger can take you away easily and you can completely lose yourself in it. This is very dangerous, cause when you lose yourself in these emotions you can make irreversible acts. Like projecting your anger on someone else, or feeling so desperate that you commit suicide…
A lot of depressions and feelings of despair have karmic roots and give a need for self-examination. So most of the time when you have these intense emotions coming up, it is something that is deeply rooted in your being. It can come from your childhood; around the time of birth; around the prenatal phase; or even your past life.
When you encounter a time in your life with an intense emotion, always remember to take time for yourself and meditate on it. Just imagine you observe this emotion from a third perspective, as you place your awareness outside of your body and watch yourself from a distance. Remember to stay the watcher.
It is very necessary that you learn to disconnect, at your most desperate moments, from temporary emotions and mind-constriction. It is important that you learn to disconnect yourself in the sense that you know and experience that you ARE NOT these kinds of emotions. You can stay with the emotion, without identifying with it. Fully experience the emotion, until the emotion is slowly fading away and is no longer present. So you always remain the watcher and observer. You keep observing in your light until it is over. These are the first steps in meditation.
Meditation – Observing your emotions by staying the watcher.
Let me summarize the process. Focus attention on the feeling inside you.
Know that it is an emotion that wants to be heard. Give it attention. Accept that it is there. Don’t think about it – don’t let the feeling turn into thinking. Don’t judge or analyze. Don’t make an identity for yourself out of it.
Stay present, and continue to be the observer of what is happening inside you.
When you feel sad, you cry. Just express your emotions freely, but do not let your mind interfere with what is happening.
When you feel fearful, just remember yourself it is just an emotion, an energy, that is present in your being and wants to be heard.
Stay the observer, stay the watcher. Just stay with this emotion, let it be heard, give it your attention. But do not lose yourself in it.
Stay the observer, stay the watcher.
Become aware not only of the emotional pain but also of ‘the one who observers’, the silent watcher. This is the power of your own conscious presence. Then see what happens.
I am sure when you start doing these two meditations, it will help you to release a lot of emotions that you have been suppressing or were stuck in your being. By doing these meditations you will find more peace and it will help you to heal a certain part of you that needs attention and healing.
Truly give yourself the time and healing that you need <3
